At the drop of the gate for the Spanish MXGP’s Race 1 the thousands of enthusiast fans were on their feet from the grandstands watching Monster Energy Yamaha Factory’s Romain Febvre ignited the holeshot flames as he charged through the first corner leading the race. Just behind the former MXGP Champion from France was Italy’s star Antonio Cairoli. For seven laps Febvre led the race until Cairoli finally made a move for the lead. It wasn’t until lap 14 of 18 that Herlings found a way past Febvre, so the French finished in third place.

Race 2 saw Cairoli leading almost every lap from the start, while Desalle and Febvre had a massive bar banging battle for 3rd. Febvre at one point got the position but at the end he finished fourth, for fourth overall of the day and tie in points for third.

Fellow Yamaha teammate Jeremy Van Horebeek put in a hearty performance this weekend as he bravely nursed a swollen scaphoid through both races. Following his big crash one week prior, the determined Belgian came into this race with the goal of two top-10 finishes and managed to achieve that with a tenth in Race 1 and an eighth in Race 2.

  JBM - Sport : MX-WM Niederlande
Freezing temperatures for the second round of the FIM Motocross World Championship in Valkenswaard, The Netherlands, last weekend. Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing's Romain Febvre put in another top-five performance, while teammate Jeremy Van Horebeek turned his pole position into a third place finish in Race 1 before an unfortunate crash put him out of the second race.

In Race 1, Van Horebeek and his teammate Romain Febvre had their YZ450FM's singing as they made up the top-five in the opening lap of the race. Looking very comfortable on such a brutal and unforgiving sand track, the familiar number '89' wasted no time to take over second place. As Van Horebeek set his sights on the race leader, Antonio Cairoli, Febvre rode a solid pace in fifth after a brief tussle with Gajser for the position. With the wind chill factor reading -11 Celsius degree, the riders lost feeling in their hands. Van Horebeek managed to hold on for a high-spirited third place finish, while Febvre braved the cold for sixth.

In race 2, Van Horebeek got a brilliant jump off the gate onboard his Yamaha and chased the first around turn-one. Eager to replicate his race-1 performance, the Belgian started to pick up the pace before an enormous crash put him out of the race as his bike took a hard landing. Running a hot pace Febvre charged hard from ninth place up into fifth and bravely managed to retain the position despite finishing the race with pain after an hard landing jump late in the race. The former world champion finished fifth overall, while Van Horebeek was dropped back to tenth.

In the Championship overall standing Febvre is currently fourth and Van Horebeek seventh.

  JBM - Sport : 12. Indoor-Titel für Toni Bou

X-Trial 2018 Round XTR 7
Toni Bou, mightier than ever, clinches a twelfth X-Trial title in Paris
Toni Bou posted fifth in Paris as he claimed the overall 2018 X-Trial World Championship victory. The Repsol Honda Team rider took the 12th indoor title triumph when one of the dates, whose points counted towards the championship, was cancelled shortly before the start of the sixth round of the season.
Despite not being anywhere near 100% after a serious back injury, Toni nevertheless arrived in Paris as a clear favourite after having triumphed in all the previous events this season: Vendée, Montpellier, Toulouse, Strasburg and Barcelona.
The current champion had to settle for the fifth position after completing two laps of the six-section course in the AccorHotels Arena in Paris. In the first qualifying phase of his 81st indoor trial, the Montesa Cota 4RT rider performed a near perfect lap, picking up a mere three penalty points. In the semi-final phase, in which the best from each group of three makes the cut, Bou had difficulty getting going and was clearly being hampered by the injury, being unable to perform as he had done in the first phase. With a final tally of 16 penalty points, Toni Bou finished in a notable fifth position in the final standings, after 27 days out of action due to the injured vertebrae.
Takahisa Fujinami disputed race number 135 and overtakes English rider Dougie Lampkin for the number of participations in the Indoor World Championship. Fujigas grabbed his best result of the season. The Japanese Repsol Honda Team rider finished in third position, accumulating 12 points in the semi-final.
Shortly before the start of the Paris X-Trial, the FIM announced that only one trial would remain before the close of the 2018 FIM World Championship. The final event is scheduled for March 29 in Budapest.

  JBM - Sport : MXGP Neuqen/Arg
Beide Yamaha-Werkspiloten in den Top 5

Romain Febvre

Jeremy van Horebeek

Last weekend the opening round of the FIM Motocross World Championship took place on the spectacular track of Neuquen, Argentina.

In the first hunt for valuable championship points Romain Febvre started following the defending World Champion Antonio Cairoli around turn-one. The talented 26-year-old French knows that championships are not won at the first race and he remained cool and calm for the entire 30-minute plus 2 lap duration of the race to finish fourth place.

Like his Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing teammate, also Jeremy Van Horebeek appreciates the importance of riding within his limits at the start of the season, especially in challenging conditions. The 28-year-old Belgian got off from an average start and rode a solid pace lap after lap to bag fifth place in the first outing.

In the second moto race roles had reversed between the two YZ450FM riders. Van Horebeek ripped a decent start with his teammate Febvre in his wake. The duo engaged a bar-to-bar battle for fourth place, which raged on until the checkered flag. Van Horebeek managed to keep his teammate at bay for fourth place in both the race and the overall results, while Febvre was forced to be content with fifth.

  JBM - Sport : 3. Lauf in Mantova/I

Jeremy van Horebeek

Last Sunday the Tazio Nuvolari track in Mantova hosted the third and last round of the “Internazionali d’Italia MX Series” 2018. Great show on the sandy track, thanks to the high number of riders coming from all over Europe and to exciting races in the MX1, MX2 and 125cc classes. Even if the weather was cloudy and rainy, a large audience challenged the low temperatures, watching the races from the natural stands around the circuit.

Antonio Cairoli won both motos, Supercampione and MX1, followed by the Yamaha Factory Racing riders Romain Febvre and Jeremy Van Horebeek in the Supercampione main event. The Yamaha duo finished with reversed positions in the MX1 main event.

Cairoli, Febvre and Van Horebeek have been rewarded also as top three riders in the final championship standing.

  JBM - Sport : 2. MX-GP Serie in Sicilien/I

Romain Febvre

At the second round of the “Internazionali di Italia” in his homeland Sicily, Antonio Cairoli has not managed to repeat the success of seven days ago in Sardinia. He had to leave the top step of the MX1 podium to Romain Febvre (Yamaha Monster Energy), who also gained the 24MX fast lap. Cairoli was leading the race followed by Febvre, with Jeremy Van Horebeek (Yamaha Monster Energy) third. With five laps to go Cairoli was slowed down by a lapped rider and Febvre took the opportunity to overtake him and win. Third place went to Van Horebeek.

Great emotions also in the mixed MX1/MX2 main event, with Cairoli winner in front of Van Horebeek (Yamaha Monster Energy) and Febvre. At the end of the race Van Horebeek has been relegated of ten positions, because he passed his teammate during a yellow flag exposure, so Febvre was awarded as second.

All the top MXGP riders were there and about 5.000 spectators, coming from allover the island, have witnessed spectacular and exciting races.

The reigning World Champion Antonio Cairoli takes these races very seriously, so no surprise about the winner. Behind him the consistent Yamaha Factory Racing duo Romain Febvre and Jeremy Van Horebeek started the season carefully but very determinated, finishing respectively third and fourth overall.
